I rarely blog solely about my CremeMagnolia Etsy Store but this morning I thought I would introduce my readers to pieces of Americana that are not only rare but a collection that is fun to collect and certainly conversation pieces. Since I am having a 25% discount March Madness Sale, I thought it appropriate to show unusual china plates, antique commemorative calendars.
During the turn of the century European china manufacturers moved their operations to the United States and settled in the Ohio River Valley; because there was an abundance of raw materials available from the river beds.
The plates shown here were made from 1908 through 1920; the latter a Victory plate celebrating the winning of World War One.
Commemorative calendar plates were used by companies as gifts to their customers. Grocery stores, Banks, Liquor Distributors and the like would distribute these plates as good will gestures typically during the holidays. Commemorative plates predated trading stamps.
Imagine owning a plate manufactured in 1911 (or older), over 100 years old to display and show your friends. They are all available in my CremeMagnolia Etsy Store. I hope you take a look and read the descriptions for a better idea as to their date, condition, and more accurate pictures. These are but a small representation of what is in my store listed in the antique section.
